What Can Affect Your Construction Project Schedule

What Can Affect Your Construction Project Schedule

Here are some of the variables that could impact your construction project schedule.

In order to complete a construction project on time, it needs to remain on schedule. Unfortunately, there are many variables that can impact your schedule, meaning it can be tough to keep your project going as planned. It’s important to understand these factors ahead of time so that you can prepare for them, allowing you to manage your construction project more effectively. Here are some of the variables that could impact your construction project schedule.

Consider How Much Staffing You Have

A construction project is going to require a lot of physical labor, and this means you’ll need to have plenty of people around to perform that labor. When staffing goes down, your ability to complete these physical tasks goes down as well.

It’s important to allocate your staffing needs appropriately during your project so that you have the right number of people for each portion of your project. You’ll also want to sequence activities efficiently too so as to minimize the amount of downtime that exists during your project.

Consider the Equipment That You Have

Ideally, you’ll have all of the equipment that you need for your project. Sometimes, however, you may find delays in your deliveries, which can significantly disrupt your schedule. This problem is best handled proactively. As such, you’ll want to consider how long your materials will take to arrive on-site. Once you know how long the delivery process should take, you can adjust your construction project schedule appropriately. This way, you should have all of the materials you need by the time a construction project starts.

There Can Be Variances in Weather

Weather can be unpredictable. As such, it can cause unexpected setbacks for a construction project.  Nevertheless, it’s possible to prepare for a variety of weather conditions so that your construction project can run smoothly, even if the weather gets a bit rough. Make sure you have a modified work schedule in place for whenever you face inclement weather conditions. This way, if inclement weather happens, you’ll still have a solid plan for getting your project completed.
