To deal with carpet wicking around your business, here is what you’ll want to do.
Are you a business owner? For businesses that have carpeting, you want your carpets to continue looking their best at all times. One factor that can affect the look of your carpets is wicking. Carpet wicking is what happens when a stain is rooted deeply into your carpeting. After you clean the surface of your carpet, the deeply-rooted stain will rise to the surface of the carpet, causing the stain to reappear. To deal with carpet wicking around your business, here is what you’ll want to do.
Deal With Stains Quickly
The less time you spend addressing a carpet stain, the less time the stain has to get deep into your carpet. You should blot the affected area with a white towel or paper towel, then blot again with a wet cloth or clean sponge. This cloth or sponge should be dipped into some soapy water before blotting the area. After this is done, rinse the affected area with a clean sponge or damp cloth. This way, you can remove soapy residue that could otherwise get into your carpeting later.
Avoid Rubbing or Scrubbing Your Carpeting
There is a reason we recommend blotting the affected spots instead of rubbing or scrubbing them. When you rub or scrub your carpet, it makes carpet wicking more likely to happen. This is because rubbing and scrubbing your carpeting makes it more likely for stains to spread, which can increase the chances of carpet wicking in the future.
Consider Using a Vacuum Cleaner
For those who have wet/dry vacuum cleaners, you can use those to get rid of any excess moisture from your carpeting. By keeping your carpet dry, mold and mildew will have a much harder time developing. This can stop your carpet from becoming a health hazard to people around your business.
